About the Project
We were appointed to undertake a pre-acquisition survey of a purpose built convent for the Roman Catholic Church parish of St. Joseph and St. Swithun, who wished to purchase the building to incorporate into their adjacent church estate. The building was purpose built and designed as a modern 10 bedroom convent by an Italian congregation of nuns and the building included a chapel, activity rooms and extensive landscaped external grounds. The parish were concerned about some cracking evident within the building and wanted to understand the cause of the damage and understand any other capital expenditure costs that might be required at the building.
Squarepoint undertook a thorough inspection of the building fabric and services, utilising our telescopic camera pole to ensure we could inspect all high level areas and undertake a detailed survey of the roof areas. We produced a report detailing the cause of the internal cracking visible and detailed all capital expenditure that might be required over the next 10 year period, with budget costs provided to assist the parish to understand their liability and allow them to plan appropriately. We also outlined general maintenance items and liabilities to help build an overall picture of the cost of maintaining and running the building.
Our report allowed our client to clearly understand their potential liability as freehold owner and assisted with the successful acquisition of the building.
